Food Is Our Medicine | Educational Workshops
Educational workshops increase the capacity of community members to grow and use Native plants. The objectives of the educational workshops are to hold one workshop in Cattaraugus and Allegany each month. Each workshop will cover at least one topic regarding the cultivation and use of Native plants and one hand-out for each attending participant.
- At least 30 unduplicated community members have attended at least 1 workshop
- 12 workshops have been held
- 3 different locations have hosted educational workshops: the Cattaraugus Community Center, Allegany Community Center and Native American Community Services of Erie and Niagara Counties, Inc.
- Topics have included the following: Eco-Logic/Using Native Plants in the Landscape, Companion Planting, Composting 101, Fertilizers, Apple Tree Pruning Care – Pest & Disease Management, Wild Edible Plants and Native Pollinators & Beneficial Insects.
